District 10A/ Mary S

The Peoria Area Answering Service had a very successful garage sale on June11-12 raising approximately $1,294.75. Twenty-eight people worked on those two days and many more contributed items to the sale.

Alateen-The “Monday Night Alateen Anonymous” group has divided into two groups with a younger age and older age group. Thursday Night Beginner’s group requested Alateen information to be available to the families attending from Proctor Hospital Family Program. The Alateen sponsors have filled out the recertification forms and submitted them to SIAFG. A new letter will be sent to the schools at the beginning of the school year announcing the three available Alateen meetings.

Public Outreach-Lynne W. and Rowena A. are creating a letter to accompany copies of Al-Anon Faces Alcoholism 2011 that will be distributed to professionals in the area.

Election of officers and Coordinators will take place on Sunday, October 3, 2010. They will take their positions at the February 2011 District 10A meeting.

District 10B/Kathy H

Groups are busy putting together raffle baskets for the State Convention. I'm always impressed with the generous nature and clever ideas from each group. I don't think it is too early to announce another Serenity Day for February 26, 2011. We have a new Goup Representative for the Monday AM Al-Anon group, Jean F.

District 11/Jackie L

Attendance in District 11 has been steady, with a slight decrease over the summer as people have vacations and summer softball leagues. This past spring we held a Sponsorship workshop. Our Al-Anon speaker was Barbara W. from Cincinnati, Ohio. We had 2 panels including Al-Anon and AA members. We concluded the day with an AA speaker, Kevin L, from Decatur. All who attended indicated they thoroughly enjoyed the day. Two people complained about the price. Next spring, April 29 & 30 2011, we have planned a 12 Step Workshop. We have confirmed Kathy H. from Cincinnati, Ohio to be our speaker. We will use a similar format as our sponsorship workshop, except that we will start on Friday night. We have secured the church, but have not yet started
planning.

We have $55 donation to assembly from the proceeds of our Sponsorship Workshop.

District 12/Janice R

Cathy B is the new Alternate District Representative for District 12, making a full complement of officers for District 12.

A new meeting has been added on Thursday mornings at 10:30. Marsha W is Group Representative and Saleema Y is co-contact. They have 8-13 people at each meeting.

The Tuscola group is struggling with 3 members. Despite efforts at our outreach in newspapers and flyers, occasional new members do not attend consistently. They are asking for suggestions to expand their group.

The Charleston Group is asking to remove the listing of Alateen Group in their area. They are having difficulty keeping teens interested in attending as well as committed Group Representatives. If they have interested teens, they will have an Alateen meeting for them and consider starting up the group, but at this time are closing the Alateen Group. We will be discussing the lack of Alateen in our district and brainstorm on ideas at our next district meeting.

Mark C, the Group Representative for the Friday night group in Bondville died suddenly . He was at the last area assembly and had 29 years in the Al-Anon program. He was excited when he went to San Antonio and was asked to host a meeting there. It was Men in Al-Anon. His wisdom and inspiration will be greatly missed.

District 14/Lyri M

Our last district meeting was held Friday, March 19th, hosted by the TFIG meeting in Belleville, IL. At that meeting we agreed to authorize monies for refreshments for the July Assembly and for literature for the 2011 Spring Conference in Fairview Heights, IL. We also agreed to have a yard sale fund-raiser to raise monies for the above and scholarships for the State Convention in October. This yard sale was cancelled due to extensive street construction. We will discuss alternate fund-raising options at our next meeting on Monday, July 19 hosted by The Hope AFG in Belleville.

District 18/MaryBeth S

Hi everyone, I want everyone to know that District 18 is running O.K. at this time. The Al-Anon birthday celebration turned out to be fabulous for those able to attend. Inclement weather kept some from coming. Thank you Susan and Joyce for making literature and books available. Thanks CathyJo for your archives display.

District 18 holds a raffle at each district meeting with money going toward individual subscriptions to The Forum. Interested individuals need only place their name on the list. Talk to your Group Representative for more information.

District 18 will be having their Fall Festival on November 13, 2010 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 2901 Nameoki Road, Granite City, IL more information to follow as it becomes available.

Peg B., our Public Outreach Coordinator, was having the Alton Telegraph publish our Where and When information in their annual outreach guide. In addition, we were contacted by someone who works for the local papers looking for Al-Anon meeting schedules.

If you are willing to speak at Al-Anon meetings and special events please contact me as I am in the process of writing up a speaker list for District 18. Thanks to Maggie and Barbara for manning the Annual Middle School Health Fair in Collinsville.

Thanks to all who made love tokens which were taken to The World Service Conference by our delegate Marcy M. And Just for Today, I want to thank every person within our District, in our meetings, and at Area Assembly. Without you we wouldn’t receive valuable information that we need.
